A Poem: Playing Piano

Playing Piano

Fingers lower to rest on the keys,
Glossy white and raised black tiles,
Playing in harmony, several melodies,
Sheets of music, piles and piles,

Minuets and sonatas and interludes,
Sharps, flats, trills, and scales,
Lines of notes of multitudes,
With superfluous little details,

The cadence of the tempo is consistent,
The notes sharp and clear trail out the door,
People open their windows to listen,
At the end, they’re left wanting to hear more,

Constant beats, rhythm and rhyme,
A soothing salve for the sick,
Step and rise, march in time,
Pairing sounds, making music.
